We look forward to seeing you at UC Berkeley this week for STELLA(!) 2018, Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19.

Getting to campus:
See information on parking and transportation.

STELLA location: Map of campus with Moffitt Library
We will be meeting on the 5th Floor of Moffitt Library in the center of campus. Please enter Moffitt from the 4th floor entrance on the east side of the building. Look for signs as you approach!

Schedule: Full STELLA 2018 schedule

Name badges:
Please remember to bring an old name badge if you have one. We’ll have extras if you can’t dig one up.

Session topics:
Are you interested in facilitating a session at the conference? Take a look at our session topic brainstorming spreadsheet and sign up.

We have populated the spreadsheet with the topics you listed in your registration form and organized them in broad categories. The spreadsheet is still open for new ideas and topics, and keep in mind that we will be voting on what sessions actually take place in person during the conference.

Lunchtime activities:

A. Digital globe demonstration:
The Digital Globe will be demonstrated during lunchtime on Friday by GIS & Map Librarian Susan Powell at the Earth Sciences and Map Library.

B. Makerspace activities:
The Moffitt Makerspace, located on the first floor of Moffitt Library, will be open during lunch on Friday and Saturday for STELLA attendees to check out. Machines that will be available for use include the vinyl cutter, button maker, and VR gear—so bring an Illustrator file or printout for custom stickers and buttons! If you have any questions contact us at stellaunconference@gmail.com.

C. Self-guided tours:
During lunchtime on Friday take a self-guided tour:

The Berkeley Art Museum and the Campanile will also be open on Saturday.

Dinner meet-ups:
If you’d like to join a no-host dinner on Friday evening, check out our list of restaurants and add your name. There will be plenty of time to sign up on Friday if you’re not sure of your plans yet.

Saturday Fun Run:
If you’d like to get a little exercise before the Saturday sessions kick off, join our first ever STELLA(!) Fun Run. Contact Sam for details at stellaunconference@gmail.com, as plans might change depending on numbers/weather. The tentative plan will be to meet at College & Bancroft at 7 am for a 30 minute mellow, mostly flat loop through campus and neighborhoods to the south.

See you on the 18th!

Best,

Sam Teplitzky & Lisa Ngo
